The Mali Center Story

Mission & Vision

The Mali Center will return economic prosperity to Rondo and surrounding neighborhood communities.

The Mail Center provides the model to build generational health and wealth with Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC) and women-owned business as the economic foundation.

Founding Principles

  • Sankofa – “It is not forbidden to fetch what is at risk of being left behind”.
  • Ubuntu – “Humanity to others”. “I am what I am because of who we all are”.

We Believe

At the Mali Center, we know that all people have immeasurable value and can reach their potential with coaching & development, mentorship and inspiration to fuel their growth. All individuals deserve equitable resources and investment.

Who We Are

The Mali Center is a health and wealth business hub that embraces diversity in an inclusive environment while providing equitable access and opportunity to small, BIPOC and women owned businesses as well as nonprofits that prioritize underestimated youth and communities of color.  Not just a physical space, The Mali Center is an ecosystem of entrepreneurs, a community unifier and a space that prioritizes holistic health and wellness. The Mali Center provides a culturally responsible environment and gives its community members the support they need to scale their businesses and serve their communities.

Our Values

  • Culture – At the Mali Center, we teach each other, listen more than we speak and share ideas and perspectives to fuel growth. We are BIPOC and women-owned businesses and nonprofits who succeed as a collective through knowledge sharing and knowledge cultivation. We uplift everyone and believe that all boats will rise when we work together and support each other.
  • Community – The Mali Center brings together innovators, entrepreneurs and creators. We positively impact our community and each other and uplift through our work. Our businesses and nonprofits enable our communities, especially those who are underestimated, to feel supported, invested in and cared for.
  • Connected – At the Mali Center, the layers of connection are what make us unique. We are connected to each other as entrepreneurs, business owners and nonprofits. We are connected to the community and neighborhoods that we support and serve. We know that our humanity connects us all. Rooted in each person’s ability to thrive is the connection of physical health, mental and emotional wellbeing, economic stability and a spiritual foundation.

Health and Wellbeing

At the Mali Center, we define the 5 pillars of health as:

  • Physical – functionally mobile, free of chronic disease, able to complete daily tasks with ease.
  • Financial – personal economic stability, ability to save for the future and be on a path to create generational economic stability and wealth.
  • Mental – ability to manage mood and feelings while working through daily challenges. Moderating the impact of trauma while remaining hopeful for the future.
  • Spiritual – feeling connected to self, others and all humanity.
  • Social – having an ecosystem of supportive and positive people to interact with. Maintaining family, communal and personal relationships with those who want to see us thrive.
